Police were called after reports about a shot fired at a Hamilton party.

A man has been arrested after firing a gun at a party in Hamilton.

Police were called to a house on Ohaupo Rd about 3.15am today after reports about fighting and that somebody fired a gun in the air.

The Armed Offenders Squad was also sent and a man was arrested at a house in the nearby suburb of Bader.

The firearm has not been found but inquiries are continuing.

Anyone with information can call Hamilton police on (07) 858 6200.
