Global entertainment icon and streaming superstar Ed Sheeran is making a most welcome and much-anticipated return to Aotearoa New Zealand next year, bringing his Loop Tour to eager fans.

Thanks to Frontier Touring, you could win a front general admission standing double pass to his Saturday show in Auckland.

This coveted area lets fans get up close and personal with one of the world’s biggest stars.

Sheeran will play five shows across three cities and will treat fans to a mix of old and new material, all served up in that inimitable Ed Sheeran style.

Sheeran is one of the most cherished and influential singer-songwriters of his era, celebrated for his heartfelt lyrics, infectious melodies and distinctive acoustic style.

Yorkshire-born and Suffolk-raised, he rose to prominence with his 2011 debut album +, which featured emotional standout songs The A Team and Lego House.

He’s since become a global sensation, topping charts with follow-up albums x, ÷ and =, each filled with personal ballads and universally loved pop hits.

What makes Sheeran truly stand out is his gift for turning personal, heartfelt moments into songs that connect with listeners of all ages.

Whether it’s emotional ballads like Perfect and Thinking Out Loud or global chart-toppers like Shape of You, he effortlessly balances vulnerability with catchy, polished songwriting.

Whether performing solo with just his loop pedal or teaming up with international stars, Sheeran’s music always carries a sense of sincerity and warmth.

That authenticity, combined with his strong storytelling, helped him build a lasting bond with fans around the world – securing his place as one of the most enduring artists of his generation.

Sheeran made it into Spotify’s Billions Club which celebrates artists’ global streaming success.

Fourteen of Sheeran’s songs, including Shape of You, Perfect, Shivers, Bad Habits, A Team, Castle on the Hill, Photograph, I Don’t Care, Beautiful People, Happier, Bam Bam and I See Fire, were among those streamed over a billion times on Spotify.

In celebration of this milestone, Sheeran treated 1700 of his fans to an intimate and secret performance in Dublin earlier this month.

Sheeran has strong ties to Ireland: his father was born in Belfast, his grandmother is from Gorey and Sheeran himself spent some of his teenage years busking in Dublin and Galway, crediting the cities with helping launch his career.

He also has a strong adoration of New Zealand, having visited extensively and even told ZM’s Fletch, Vaughan and Megan in 2021 he almost bought a house in Wellington a decade ago.

Sheeran last performed in New Zealand in 2023. He also treated schoolkids at Kōwhai Intermediate and Manurewa Intermediate to a small performance, something he does often on his New Zealand tours.

If and where he will again next year remains to be seen, but his upcoming shows in the three cities are expected to be very popular.
