Weekend Warrior - Nicole Heard

Every week the Daily Post will highlight a Weekend Warrior - someone who has made a worthy difference to their club, team or sport. In the latest of our Weekend Warrior series, we introduce Nicole Heard.

Who? Nicole Heard
Gymnastics coach
Age 26
MIGS club in Rotorua.

Why?
Every week more than 400 children from pre-school to teenage years are put through their paces by Nicole and her helpers at the MIGS facility on Te Ngae Road.
Nicole takes particular interest in the competitive students and at the recent Waikato Championships eight MIGS gymnasts earned gold medals and four scored Waikato titles.

When?
The former Rotorua Girls' High School student got in to gymnastics when she was seven and competed for about another seven years - peaking at level 8.

What?
"I just love it. I love coaching and seeing the kids improve. It's so good for the kids confidence and their co-ordination".

Where?
Nicole got interested in coaching while at Waikato University in Hamilton and took up the role at MIGS nearly two years ago.
