Two undefeated teams in the Bayfair Baywide women's premier rugby competition are set to meet in a re-match of last year's grand final. Waikite and Arataki will play at Arataki Park tomorrow in what should be a huge clash.
While Arataki won the title last year, Waikite perhaps have the
upper hand heading into the match tomorrow afternoon. The Rotorua club won an extra-time thriller against Arataki during their latest meeting, which was part of a pre-season tournament held earlier this year.
Despite taking out that match, Waikite's Eliza Stephens was quick to claim the underdog status.
"We will be looking to give Arataki a good go and the team are really quite excited about this weekend," she said. "Arataki are the current Bayfair Baywide champions, we are the underdogs and like to be in this position.
"There is no pressure on us, even though we won the 10-aside tournament just over a month ago, I don't believe that is an indication of the game we will be playing this weekend."
