Squash: Landers-Murphy makes world doubles squad

Rotorua's Amanda Landers-Murphy has made the New Zealand squad for the World Doubles Championships in England later this year.

Squash New Zealand today announced the seven player squad for the championships to be held in Manchester from August 1-5. Landers-Murphy joins Paul Coll, Campbell Grayson, Evan Williams, Lance Beddoes, Zac Millar, and Joelle King.

Landers-Murphy, 25, currently holds a world ranking of 55 with a national ranking of three.

Landers-Murphy, Coll, King, and Grayson paired up in the World Doubles Championships in Darwin last year where King claimed gold in the mixed doubles with Coll and in the women's doubles with Landers-Murphy.

Last year's World Doubles Championships team Amanda Landers-Murphy, Campbell Grayson, Paul Coll, Joelle King, Front and coach Glen Wilson.

Coll and Grayson secured a bronze medal in the men's doubles while Grayson and Landers-Murphy achieved a sixth place finish in the mixed doubles.

Squash New Zealand said the experience these players brought to the event would be highly valued as they attempted to reclaim their titles.

Pairings for the event will be released closer to the time with New Zealand entering two men's pairings, two mixed pairings and one women's pairing.

The squad is coached by Glen Wilson assisted by Wayne Werder.
