Soccer: Fury looking to back up from Chatham Cup win

There are plenty of tasty matchups for football fans to savour in this weekend's WaiBop Federation leagues.

In division one, second-placed AFC Fury host third-placed Ngongotaha AFC.

Both sides were involved in Chatham Cup games last weekend with Fury convincing winners over Whakatane while Ngongotaha put up a good battle against Northern League Division 1 side Melville, going down 2-1.

While AFC Fury will start as favourites the Villagers should not be underestimated.

At the other end of the table Rotorua United host the only side below them, Otumoetai, at Neil Hunt Park at 2.45pm tomorrow. It is only the second home game for United who had their first win against Melville last weekend.

United winger Josh Chemis will be looking to add to his goal tally during the game, after bagging two goals last weekend.

It is an important game for United who need three points to break clear of Otumoetai and keep in touch with the teams ahead of them.

Whakatane Town travel to the fortress of Crown Park to play Taupo who are getting back to winning ways after a disastrous start to the season.

The Challenge Shield will also be up for grabs during the game.

In other games, Cambridge host Tauranga City, Waikato Unicol have home advantage against Melville while competition leaders, Tauranga Old Blues, host Matamata Swifts.

In division two it's a top of the table clash between Hukanui Rototuna and Tauranga Boys' College, Cambridge host Tauranga City, Old Blues play Matamata, Te Awamutu meet West Hamilton and bottom of the table Rotorua United play Tokoroa at Neil Hunt Park.
