Rotorua's Samantha Sinclair is one of six Kia Magic players named in a strong Waikato Bay of Plenty under-23 team looking to defend their national title.
After two recent trials, 15 players have been named in the under-23 squad which will be cut to 12 ahead of the national under-23
tournament in Dunedin in July.
Netball New Zealand decided to start the under-23 tournament last year after identifying a gap between under-21 level and the ANZ Championship.
The new competition showed its value last year, with four members of the Waikato Bay of Plenty team going on to secure contracts with the Magic for 2014.
Sinclair, 19, was signed by the Magic after the tournament last year and was on the bench for the Magic during their win over the Thunderbirds in Rotorua on Sunday.
