Te Awamutu will look to defend their Stan Meads Cup title when they face off against new kids on the block Piako.

The business end of the season has arrived after an outstanding season, with the two respective finals being played out at Albert Park in Te Awamutu tomorrow afternoon.

Te Awamutu and Piako got to the season finale in semifinal battles of attrition last weekend.

Te Awamutu took a six point lead into the break against Western Bay of Plenty, before closing out the match to post a 26-13 victory.

In the other semifinal hosted in Morrinsville between Piako and Eastern Bay of Plenty, the game went down to the wire with Piako squeezing out a narrow 26-22 victory.

Both Te Awamutu and Piako will take a four game unbeaten run into the title decider.

The Piako team, who are centred on Morrinsville with some player support from Cambridge and Matamata, have been the surprise package of this year's competition.

The Stan Meads Bowl will be fought out by last year's beaten finalist Hamilton and King Country B, in the curtain raiser to the main event.

Long time Waikato Sub-Union heavyweight Hamilton are sure to want to get their hands on some Stan Meads silverware after missing the championship title game.

King Country B were rewarded for playing competitive rugby throughout the season, when they beat the Central (Rotorua) Sub-Union team in the Bowl semifinals, to have the opportunity to win the inaugural Stan Meads Bowl.

Western Bay of Plenty and Eastern Bay of Plenty will not only square off to decide third place in the Stan Meads Cup, but the Bay of Plenty Sub-Union prize of the Te Hurinui Apanui Shield will also be on the line at Rugby Park in Whakatane.

Two weeks ago, Eastern Bay took possession of the Te Hurinui Apanui Shield when they beat Central (Rotorua) Bay in a Stan Meads round robin encounter.

Stan Meads Cup and Bowl finals at Albert Park Te Awamutu tomorrow

Stan Meads Cup: Te Awamutu v Piako kickoff 2.30pm

Stan Meads Bowl: Hamilton v King Country B kickoff 1pm

Stan Meads Cup Playoff for Third Place: Eastern BOP v Western BOP at Rugby Park Whakatane.
