Rotorua Boys' High School had four students compete at the 2016 New Zealand Age Group Golf Championships at Nelson Golf Course, Tini Hawea (4 handicap), Tiemi James-Ngaronga (6 handicap), Rahiri Tukaki-Murray (9 handicap) and James Tauariki (4 handicap).
After the completion of two rounds there was a cut down to the top 72 players, with Tauariki the only Rotorua student to make the cut, shooting rounds of 78,74 and 80 to finish seventh for his age in the under 15 division.
Over the first two rounds, Hawea shot 80 and 83, James-Ngaronga 87 and 79 and Tukaki-Murray shot 89 and 88.
Nelson Golf Club (par 71) was in great condition and the links layout provided a good challenge for all players. The playing field consisted of 156 of New Zealand's best under 19 golfers.
