"I want to see a full display, and just because it's our last game doesn't mean we should sit back and take it easy.
"Taupo are going to come at us strong and we know they are dangerous with the ball.
"We need to control the centre of the field and force them into errors."
Both sides come into the game rested - Taupo Phoenix had a bye last weekend whilst Pikiao were awarded a 20-0 default win against bottom of the table Turangawaewae.
And it is set to be an even contest with the two teams sharing the points in an 18 all draw in the reverse fixture at Hickling Park.
"It was one of our best battling performances," said Lingman.
"We could have stolen all the points last time. The capability is in the side, now we just need to put everything together."
Pikiao have had a mixed season with four wins, nine losses and three draws.
Lingman, in his first season coaching the team, said he had learnt much from his "major challenge" and was looking towards success next season.
"It has been a really steep learning curve for me, but it's been very enjoyable," he said.
"A lot of this year has been about building. We have a lot of very young players and new faces.
"We started off in very encouraging form and it's just been a real shame about all the injuries we have picked up. It really has given us a knock.
"But those are the sorts of things you have to deal with as a coach and I know the side has a lot of potential to be a very good team."
Meanwhile seventh placed Ngongotaha Chiefs also aim to end their season on a high, but face a difficult challenge against second placed Pacific Sharks away.
Ngongotaha go into the game on the back of last Saturday's 42-18 loss to Otumoetai Eels but manager Andrew Taylor said the team was motivated for tomorrow.
"It's going to be a very difficult test but we have shown real character of late and I expect the same again," he said.
"Pacific are up the top for a reason but they will want to go into the semifinals intact.
"Who knows they may hold back slightly and we have to take every chance we get.
"It's important to end well and I want every player walking off the pitch proud of what they've given."
