Ngongotaha AFC face a "tricky" task to reach the momentous 100-goal milestone for the season when they take on Otumoetai FC.

The Villagers have scored 99 nine goals on their way to being crowned WaiBOP Premiership champions but face the second best defensive side in the league in their fourth placed opponents away tomorrow.

Ngongotaha go into the game full of confidence after beating Waikato Unicol AFC 3-0 in their last fixture - and remain the only unbeaten side in the Premiership this season.

However captain Dave Haua is wary of Otumoetai who have only conceded 18 goals this season - five more than Ngongotaha and his side were made to fight hard in their 1-0 in the reverse fixture in July.

"It would be nice to get over the milestone and even though we have won the league we aren't taking our foot off the pedal," he said

"But they are one of the best defensive teams in the league and will be very difficult to break down.

"But I'm glad we have a difficult game because I don't want our standard of play to drop off. It will prepare us well for the play-offs.

"We feel confident coming into the game but we started off a bit slow in our last match which I don't want to see happen again. We will be ready from the off."

Striker Mitchell Miller has been leading the way in front of goal for his side, having scored close to 50 goals this season - including nine in one game.

He is both his team's and WaiBOP Premiership's top scorer for 2016.

Ngongotaha coach Shane Davis praised his team's "attacking mentality" and is confident they will reach the century of goals but insists players must stay focused against "tricky" opposition.

"We have been excellent in front of goal all season and I expect this to continue in our last two games," he said.

"But Otumoetai will battle hard and so we have to be patient. They are a frustrating sort of team so we have to make sure our communication and movement is good.

"Miller has been in great form but all over the park players have been popping up with goals and creating chances. I can't remember such a prolific season in our history."

Ngongotaha have one remaining fixture against third placed Matamata Swifts away after this weekend, who are tied in second place with Cambridge FC on 44 points.

And the Villagers have already lined up an opportunity to clinch a place in the Northern League next year via a post-season playoff series with the team that finishes second in the Auckland league.

Ngongotaha AFC v Otumoetai FC, Fergusson Park 1 , 2.45pm.
