More than 190 players will descend on Rotorua this weekend to compete in the 2016 North Island Age Group squash championships-with a Rotorua girl a favourite for one of the titles.
It is sure to be an action packed weekend at the Geyser City Squash Club, supported by Ti Street Squash Club. In the under-19 girls, Ellie Epke is the top seed and will be looking to warm up for the 2016 World Junior Championships at the beginning of next month. Kaitlyn Watts and Abbie Palmer should face each other in the semifinals if the seedings go to plan, with Anna Hughes rounding out the top four players in the under-19s.
The under-19 boys see Matthew Lucente take the top seeding.
With the World Junior Boys Team resting before they go to Poland at the end of next week the under-19 title is wide open. Lucente will need to get past Tyler Ranger in the semifinals if seedings follow suit and Jayden Millard and Mitchell Kempton are due to face each other on the other side of the draw.
Aucklander Gabe Yam is top seed in the boys under-17 while Rotorua's Nadia Hubbard will be looking to take the under-17 girls' title.
