It was a tale of two hat tricks for Ngongotaha AFC on the weekend as the side racked up a hefty winning scoreline in the WaiBOP Premiership.

The only unbeaten side in the division beat SGS Papamoa 8-0 away on Saturday with strikers Josh O'Sullivan and Mitchell Miller both netting three times each for their team.

Ngongotaha were leading 6-0 at halftime after two goals each from O'Sullivan and Miller and strikes from Harlem Simiona and Jacob Davis.

Both strikers then completed hat tricks in the second half, sealing Ngongotaha's ninth win of the season.

Coach Shane Davis said the side played a "good brand of all round football" which was a big improvement on last weekend's display against Waikato Unicol AFC, and he was impressed with the clinical finishing.

"It was such a better performance. We dominated possession and played a good pass and move style of football," he said.

"The defence was also incredibly well structured and a lot of attacks started from the back.

"It was also great to see the ball go in the back of the net so often. O'Sullivan really stood out as he was relentless for the entire game, and looked constantly dangerous.

"This result has certainly sent out a message to the other teams in the division."

Ngongotaha took the lead after seven minutes thanks to an O'Sullivan header in the box.

The away side were then 4-0 up after 38 minutes thanks to two Miller strikes and a left footed screamer from Simiona 18 yards out.

O'Sullivan scored his second of the game two minutes later when he pounced with his left foot in the box and Davis made it six after 42 minutes.

After the break O'Sullivan completed his hat trick in the 56th minute when he popped up once again in the opposition's penalty area.

The result leaves Ngongotaha top of the table on 28 points, with a three point cushion over second placed Matamata Swifts with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Rotorua United drew 0-0 away against a tough Melville United side - the result leaving Rotorua United in sixth place, 10 points behind the current leaders.
