Otumoetai managed to jump ahead of Melville United on Wednesday, after they beat division two-bound Otorohanga. It has been a long hard season for the team who are a foundation team of the league. The club lost key players and the results have reflected on the team who could manage only one win all season.
Otorohanga netted just 16 goals but conceded 80 in their 22 appearances this season.
Division one winners Taupo, who dropped only three points all season, were head and shoulders above every other team, while Claudelands Rovers were clearly second best. Both sides now have the option of playing off for a spot in the Northern League.
The WaiBop Federation season winds up with the "All Stars" game which will be played at Ngongotaha on October 8, followed by the trophy presentations.
Points table: Taupo 61, Claudelands 55, Otumoetai 37, Melville 36, Ngongotaha 31, Whakatane 30, AFC Fury 27, Rotorua United 25, Waikato Unicol 25, Tauranga Old Blues 22, Tauranga Boys' College 20, Otorohanga 6.
