Holt has shown some silky boxing moves in the ring thanks to the help of her trainers, fellow competitor Monty Betham and world boxing champion Kiwi Danielle Smith.
"It's so much easier to hit the pads. I'm loving the training, you just feel tough don't you? When you're in the ring and you've got the gloves on and you get that mentality 'yeah I'm a boxer,' and then you get hit in the head and you don't feel tough anymore."
Holt told The Daily Post she had never felt so fit and was surprised how intense the training was.
"I knew it was going to be hard work. I didn't know how sort of mentally tough it was going to be. So I'm definitely battling some nerves."
The hardest challenge Holt said was the first time she sparred. "I actually had a panic attack, I couldn't breathe. It was all right at first and then you're on the ropes and you don't know how to get out of it, yeah, I actually couldn't breathe and had a panic moment. It was weird."
Holt said the way she got past it was by getting more time in the ring.
"You get used to being hit and kind of trying to be as hard as you can while it's all happening," Holt said.
"I've got a lot better but as I've said before it's easy to hit the pads and throw a combo when you know it's not going to hit back. When you've got someone ducking and weaving and punching you and their gloves are up - it's a whole different story."
Holt got roped into the boxing by fellow TV presenter and former Black Cap Mark Richardson, who put her name forward for the Fight for Christchurch and Kids Can the week before. In that charity fight she will take on cyclist Emma Ferguson.
The match-up between Holt and Hareb is sure to spark a lot of interest. They will feature alongside six fighters representing league and rugby - Christian Cullen, Troy Flavell, Slade McFarland, Liam Messam and Carlos Spencer for rugby, versus Monty Betham, Awen Guttenbeil, Issac Luke, Wendell Sailor, Jerry Seuseu and Joe Vagana for league.
Lonergan and Higgins are expected to release a rugby replacement for Jonah Lomu, who was forced to pull out after complications with his health.
The Fight for Life is on December 3 at the Trusts Stadium Arena in Auckland. Tickets can be purchased at Ticket Direct or are available on Sky Arena, pay-per-view.
