Sport Bay of Plenty has named the winners of the July Bay of Plenty Secondary School monthly awards.
Sports Girl of the Month has been awarded to Rotorua Girls' High School student Dayna McGregor and Sports Boy of the Month is Jordan Ngamata-Poi of Western Heights High School in Rotorua.
McGregor has
recently been named in the New Zealand Under-17 volleyball team to attend the National Championships in Perth, Australia.
This is a great honour as she is the first student from her school to represent her country in volleyball.
She has achieved this honour by firstly representing Rotorua Girls' High School in the Senior A Volleyball team.
McGregor has also represented her school in the premier senior netball team, been selected for the Bay of Plenty under-17 netball team and the Waiariki under-17 netballers.
She is also in the school swimming team, basketball team and was a junior champion in tae kwon do last year.
She is also a secondary school power-pulling lightweight champ.
Jordan Ngamata-Poi was chosen for being "rugby mad" and it shows with his selection for a trial with the Chiefs under-18 squad.
Along with this great achievement, he has also been selected to represent the Bay of Plenty under-18 rugby team.
He is the vice captain of the Western Heights High School First XV and has been an inspiration for this team leading the way for them to make the finals of the Bay of Plenty Secondary School championships, which they won.
