"It's not too bad I'm quite happy with [how I've played]. I'm scoring better than I thought I would. The first couple of games [I had trouble with] the finishing but it's kei te pai (good) now. I'm warmed up now."
Teddy managed to make it past the knock-out round of the women's singles yesterday, something she has only managed to do twice before since she first started playing 10 years ago.
"I did it in my first year and again in my third year ... I always enjoy the nationals, I love the nationals. There are a lot of great people at these things and it's good to catch up with them."
It is the first time in eight years the nationals have returned to Rotorua.
"The nationals are every second year so hopefully we can get them back here again."
Although Teddy is passionate about darts now, it wasn't always the case.
"I only started because my partner, he was playing and I used to drop him off but then I had to sit and wait because I don't drink.
"But then they were short of a player and they said 'just hop in and play,' and I said 'it's just gonna go off the board.' Then I just carried on from then."
Now, Teddy plays darts three times a week playing for Rotorua RSA and Geyserland Darts Association.
She said he had been impressed with the level of competition at this year's nationals. "As you get further into the [tournament] you come up against harder and harder players. There are some pretty good players here."
