Rotorua driver Sloan Cox is aiming to finish the year on a high at this weekend's Rally Coromandel.
Heading into the final round of the 2016 Brian Green Property's Group New Zealand Rally Championship Cox and co-driver Malcolm Read are aiming to finish the year with a rally win and score maximum points for their championship campaign.
Cox is sitting fourth in the overall driver's championship and is currently in a close three way battle for second overall and in an even closer battle for the junior title where only one point separates Cox from Lance Williams.
Read on the other hand is tied second in the co-driver's championship and aiming to maintain that spot.
Throughout this season Cox has shown great speed by winning stages and being at the top end during events but just hasn't had it go his way with unfortunate pestering car problems with his Taslo Engineering Mitsubishi Evo X.
"We have been so close to getting a good result or win this season, but different problems with the Taslo Engineering Mitsubishi Evo X keep holding us back, however I am looking forward to another good event with Malcolm," he said.
