The Rotorua Association of Triathletes has an activity for all this Sunday - the second of its winter duathlon series.
The race is based at the Waipa car park and involves a road cycle instead of the usual mountain bike segment.
The race is open to all, with a kids'race, short course and long course on offer, depending on fitness and experience.
Each course involves an off-road run close to the entrance of the Whakarewarewa Forest.
The bike course includes Waipa Bypass Rd with the short and long course using Eight Mile Gate Rd - a road normally closed to non-logging traffic. This part of the bike course is closed to all traffic.
