To think the fight of this century is only weeks away.

Floyd Mayweather jnr and Manny Pacquiao will meet in just over two weeks at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

The lead-up during the next couple of weeks will be immense in the media. And so it should be.

This fight simply has it all.

In terms of character, you have a flashy and outspoken fighter from the United States (Mayweather) versus a solid Christian and politician from the Philippines (Pacquiao).

In terms of fighting style, you have a southpaw (Pacquiao) versus the orthodox stance of Mayweather.

In terms of records, Pacquiao has won world titles in eight different divisions while Mayweather has a perfect record of 47-0.

It is a promoter's dream.

Unsurprisingly then, perhaps the most interesting news to come out of both camps this week was really no news at all.

Both boxers have been reported as keeping most of their public comments civil and respectful this week, in the face of huge media attention.

But I think both fighters, especially Mayweather, realise they won't need to say much for this fight.

They don't need to promote it by slinging off at each other.

This fight already has everybody's attention.

Perhaps more so than any country, the Philippines will be buzzing in the lead-up to this fight.

I was lucky enough to visit the Philippines a few years ago, and to say Pacquiao is a national treasure there would be an understatement.

For example, our host, a pastor of a church in Manila, sat us down one night and got us watching his full collection of Pacquiao's best fights. They simply love him over there.

Like many Filipinos, I will be spending many an hour over the next two weeks reading stories and watching old bouts from both fighters in the lead-in to May 3.

I can't wait.
