Bayleys Central Indians have fallen to their first defeat in the BOPCA Williams Cup.

The Rotorua side, who batted first, lost by five wickets against Eves Realty Greerton at home yesterday in the 50-over game.

Central Indians were dismissed for 175 - the top score from batsman Stephen Nicholls with 64 runs whilst bowler Dan Spencer took four wickets for Greerton.

In the second innings Bay of Plenty batsman Tom MacRury blasted Greerton to victory as he smacked 76 off just 53 balls and Josh Healy-Ormrod contributed a solid 33 runs.

The result leaves Central Indians in joint third in the table with their opposition after the local side won their opening fixture against defending champions New World Te Puke by 31 runs, away last weekend.

Tauranga batted first, with Yorkshire County batsman Alex Lees hitting an impressive 51, before being bowled by Cadets' skipper Scott Steward. Sean Wakelin also contributed 22 runs as his side were removed for 188. Scott Steward was the best of the Cadets bowling attack taking four wickets for 22 runs.
