Rotorua Boys' High School 1st XV have revenge in their sights as they aim for their third win in a row in the Super 8 competition.

The national champions host Hamilton Boys High School 1st XV who beat Rotorua Boys' High in the final of the tournament last year.

Rotorua Boys' High go into tomorrow's game on the back of two wins over tough opposition - beating Tauranga Boys' 1st XV 24-18 and last weekend defeating Gisborne Boys' High 1st XV 24-19.

Manager Bruce Buckton is wary of Hamilton's dangerous attacking play however is confident his side will get a positive result.

"We are feeling confident and our aim is to be one of those teams finishing in a top four position so we have to get a result against teams like Hamilton," Buckton said.

"But we are all aware that it will be a very competitive match. Hamilton are very well coached and have been in high pressure positions before.

"They have very strong set pieces and play the ball wide which we will be looking to defend against.

"We must be sharp on our defensive and structural play or risk throwing the result away."
Rotorua Boys' High recently had eight players selected for the Chiefs U18 camp - to be held on the first week of school holidays.

They are Te Ra Whata, Kaleb Trask, Jake Quin, Kaniera Jones, Sy Waiti, Raniera Whakataka, Hayze Perham and Blake Bird (on stand by).

"We are all very proud of all the players who were selected as they have all worked really hard for their place," said Buckton.

"I'm hoping this boost for the side will lift performances in this tournament.
"We clearly have the quality in the side but it will about putting a strong team performance together."

But Buckton said there has been an adjustment period for the side after competing at the 2016 Sanix World Rugby Youth Tournament in Japan as national champions.

The side finished third in May after being beaten 29-12 by Glenwood High School from South Africa in the semifinals.

"It was a great opportunity for all the boys but we were left a little disappointed not to make the finals," said Buckton.

"And since then we have been working very closely with the players. I think we are still figuring out where the best positions are for certain people.

"But recently we have been getting stronger and stronger and hopefully that will come across on the field."

Kick of at the Rotorua Boys High School No 1 field is at 12pm.
