A team from Te Karaka skipped by David File has won their third straight title at the 40th Annual Arawa Bowling Club Speights Tournament.

The men's fours tournament was played this week at the Arawa Bowling Club in Rotorua.

Thirty-eight teams entered the tournament with some coming from as far away as Waikato, Thames Valley, Gisborne, North Shore, Manawatu, Wellington and the Bay of Plenty. The Warren Trophy, awarded to the top team at the tournament, was won for the third year in a row by David File's team from Te Karaka.

Section A, Warren Trophy - semifinals: D File, J Dawson, S Goldsbury, D MacPherson (Te Karaka) 22, B Ferrick, M McLaughlin, A Ferrick, C Salmon (Taradale) 21; I Combe, B McCrystal, J Lindsay, J Valentine (Mairangi Bay) 28 A McCaulay, D Baillie, F Rush, D Spender (Arawa) 13. Final: File 21 Coombe 11.

Section B, Fawcett Trophy - semifinals: L McLeay, P Spackman, L Woods, L McLellan (Arawa) 31, J Hohepa, D Khan, W McKinnon, H Sing (Ngongotaha) 15; G Caie, S Cruse, W Davey, A Collar (Omanu) 28, C Rolfe, P Gallacher, M Horsley, T Strathern (Arawa) 20. Final: McLeay 28 Caie 18.
