Auckland cyclist Sam Lindsay has won the 13th Taupo to Rotorua 100k Flyer this afternoon.

More than 200 spectator lined Fenton St, Rotorua to watch the 21-year-old rider make history as the first rider to win the race after the course was reversed for the first time in the event's history.

Auckland riders Louis Crosby and Jared Holmes were second and third with Rotorua rider Ben McHale fourth and Hastings rider Josh Page rounding off the top five

Lindsay finished well ahead of the lead bunch in a gun time of 2:20:53.8 with Crosby 2:21:05.6, Holmes 2:21:06.1, McHale 2:21:06.3 and Page 2:21:07.1.

The first woman home was Tokoroa rider Karyn Brown in a time of 2:29:28.8..
