Halloween at Rainbow Springs is back!

After the success of last year's Halloween event, Rainbow Springs has decided to do it all over again this year - but bigger, and better than before!.

Halloween is seen by Rainbow Springs as an ideal opportunity to provide the Rotorua community with a safe venue for kids to dress up, trick or treat and generally have a great time. It's also a chance for the park to have locals visit at a discount price and enjoy an iconic New Zealand tourist attraction in their own back yard.

Not only will spooky 'trick or treating' be on offer over the two events, but guests will be entertained by live Halloween-themed music performed by the Rotorua Symphonic band, Carnivorous Plant Society, DJ Funkenstein (aka DJ Nero) and the Travelling Tuataras.

Due to high demand last year, tickets are being presold on the park's website and limited to 750 people per day into the two event - the 'Nature Nightmare' on Saturday 29th October and the 'Halloween Family Festival' on Sunday 30th October.

Saturday's 'Nature Nightmare' will be more on the scary side of things with costumed actors enhancing the themed areas in the park which will include the Creepy Crawly Tunnel, the Piranha Pool and Axe Murderer Alley. Complimentary lollies are on offer for the brave, and spot prizes will be up for grabs for the best costumes.

The Halloween Festival on the Sunday will be suitably toned down experience designed for younger visitors - still with the complimentary lollies of course . With this event starting in the afternoon, visitors are welcome to bring along a picnic blanket and stay for the whole afternoon to enjoy the entertainment and the atmosphere.

As well as live entertainment for both events, the onsite café will be boasting a horror-filled menu of 'vomit' ice cream, Rustie's rotten ribs and Mad Dog's Hot Dogs.

Marketing Manager for Rainbow Springs, Shaun Anastasi, says "Our whole team are really excited to be having a Halloween promotion again this year. It's certainly not an ordinary day in the park!"

"Last year, we had queues of several hundred metres out the door - so we are keen to ensure people don't miss out. This year, we're pre-selling tickets via our website, so we'd encourage those who want to avoid the queues to buy their tickets in advance" he says.

Need to know information:

Nature Nightmare:
• Saturday 29th October, 7pm - 10pm
• Ticket's $20 per adult, $10 per child (up to 15 years)
• Entertainment includes the Carnivorous Plant Society and a host of terrifying Halloween creatures
• Complimentary lollies for trick-or-treaters
• We do not recommend this activity for children under 12 years old (unless they're really, really brave!) .
