Rotorua zombie enthusiasts are looking to raise $10,000 for charity this year during a zombie walk and Halloween party.

Organisers of the annual Rotorua Zombie Walk will visit the Rotorua Night Market tomorrow to promote the walk and Halloween party on October 26.

Former DVD store owner Layla Robinson started the zombie walk event in 2010, donating the money raised to the Rotorua Brain Injury Association.

"I am a big horror fan and in all the zombie movies the zombies eat brains," she said.

Last year the walk gained enough money to send one young man, involved with the Brain Injury Association, to Outward Bound.

"He said he never thought he could do some of the things he did on the course. It gave him a lot of confidence."

Ms Robinson said they were now looking to raise enough money to send five people on the Outward Bound course.

"My goal is to raise $10,000. We have already raised $2000 from the Nightmare at the Museum event."

The Lakeland Queen has offered their services free this year, with a masquerade-themed Halloween party planned for the night of October 26.

Tickets are $40.

The Rotorua Zombie Walk begins at 12.30pm on the same day.

The cost is $5 and people can come in full costume and make-up or receive basic face painting at the Soundshell prior to the walk.
