Youth charged with starting large house fire on Homedale St, Rotorua

A youth has been charged and appeared in court after fire ravaged a Rotorua home on Friday.

Police confirmed a youth was charged and appeared in the Rotorua Youth Court on Saturday.

Police and Fire and Emergency NZ staff were called to Homedale St about 12.55pm. Two appliances were sent and the fire was out by 2.42pm.

The emergency service said they are investigating the fire.

All occupants of the house were accounted for.

A young person is due to appear again in the Youth Court on May 18.
