It will be second plays third when Rangiuru visit Waikite's Bellvue Rd home.

Last weekend Waikite had a 78-0 win over Te Whanau Apanui while Rangiuru have looked strong all season and comprehensively took care of Rotoiti in Te Puke last Sunday.

Waikite captain Eliza Stephens is hoping her team continues to perform tomorrow as they did last weekend.

"This weekend our team will be focusing on taking the same attitude, determination, game plan, structure and support for each other as we did in our match last week against Te Whanau Apanui," said Stephens.

Waikite coach Murray Sturt said he was just as pleased with the no tries conceded as the win, and the game was good preparation for tomorrow's challenge.

"We achieved what we put in place at training on the Wednesday before we went down to Apanui. That put us in good stead for what we are facing this weekend."

After two losses in the opening two games of the reason, Waikite have scored two wins in a row, with Sturt targeting a top four finish after the first round in a week's time.

Stephens said the team had strength across the board.

"For us, we will be maintaining ball possession around the ruck ensuring we are supporting our ball carriers and creating clean ball for our halfback to allow her to get it out wide to our backs with speed to finish off."

Stephens said she felt her side would be able to match Rangiuru's strength.

"Their backline are known to be fast and skilful. I believe we will match them in this area, which should be great for our whanau to watch," said Stephens.

Sturt said the match was not just between teams, but also between the two coaches.

"[Rangiuru coach] Jimi's [McLean] an accomplished coach and he's got these girls to where they are now and they are only getting better under his coaching."

Sky television cameras will be on hand to capture the action for the Grassroots Rugby show.

Rotoiti are likely to have an equally difficult task tomorrow as last weekend with table toppers Rangataua visiting Emery Park, while Whakarewarewa will be looking to bounce back from an away loss to the competition leaders, when they host Waimana.

Baywide Women's Rugby
Sunday 1pm: Waikite v Rangiuru at Bellvue Rd, Rotoiti v Rangataua at Emery Park, Whakarewarewa v Waimana at Puarenga Park, Te Whanau Apanui - Bye.
