Winners of car 'gobsmacked'

Locals Martin and Penelope Lenart were "gobsmacked" when they found out they had won a car through a promotion draw with McDowell Real Estate Professionals Rotorua.

Mr Lenart said they won the 2016 Ford Kuga Trend after listing a rental property they had in Lynmore with the Professionals to sell.

He said he was "gobsmacked" when he found out they had won, and it was "just totally unexpected".

He said he had bought the house 12 years ago through the Professionals and so "thought it would be nice to give it back to them to sell".

He said the house sold quickly - it went on the market on a Friday with a good offer made by the Monday.

Mr Lenart said with the house settled in August and the car draw this month "it's been an absolutely fantastic couple of months".

"I just want to thank Linda Branch and the Professionals who made this possible, and have done a great job in selling the house for us."

McDowell Real Estate Professionals Rotorua's Tania Davis said the car was worth $46,000.

She said people did not have to sell their property for the promotion, but did have to list it and meet other criteria around marketing.
