Wine and Cheese with Rembrandt

Rotorua Museum are hosting a Wine and Cheese with Rembrandt evening offering a unique viewing of the Rembrandt Remastered exhibition followed by a Dutch inspired taste session.

The evening, on October 28, will include specialty cheese, local Volcanic Hills wine, and a talk from Rembrandt scholar and former Rembrandt Remastered manager, Emma Jameson.

October is also national cheese month.

"We thought why not combine the two, Dutch and cheese, into one unique event?," said Rotorua Museum's Events Coordinator Kathy Nicholls.

"Thanks to Miel Meyer, an award winning artisan Dutch cheesemaker, we will offer a number of variations of the Dutch favourite, gouda.

"We were lucky enough to secure award winning Meyer Cheese who have a generational history of cheese-making that began in the Netherlands and found its way here to New Zealand," said Ms Nicholls.

"With Wine and Cheese with Rembrandt, we hope to pique people's interest in specialty cheese and deepen their appreciation of Dutch culture through the unbeatable combination of food and art. Emma Jameson adds to that mix with her depth of knowledge on the grand master."

An honours art history graduate with an enthusiastic passion for Rembrandt's depiction of textiles and his diverse brushwork techniques, Ms Jameson will share interesting facts and anecdotes about the grand master, Rembrandt.

The evening starts at 6pm and tickets are $25 per person and available from Rotorua Museum reception or online at eventfinda.co.nz
