Unison has restored power to the majority of customers in Taupo and Rotorua following wild weather which caused power outages across both regions over the past few days.
Danny Gough, Unison's Customer Relations Manager, said the Company's lines crews had worked tirelessly to reconnect customers as fast as they
could, with crews coming through from Hawke's Bay to assist with repairing both networks.
"Our crews have done a superb job, working in challenging conditions, to ensure we could get the power back on for our customers as soon as it was safe to do so. The weather, which brought down power poles and lines across the network in Taupo and Rotorua, has thankfully now abated.
"We still have a handful of customers without power in isolated areas (in both regions), but we are confident they will have power restored by the end of today," he said.
