PRIZES, giveaways, and plenty of entertainment will be on offer at this weekend's Rotorua Daily Post Home and Leisure Show.

The annual show, at the Energy Events Centre, opens today and runs until Sunday. It will feature more than 200 stands, hundreds of products, dozens of cooking demonstrations and lots of prizes and giveaways.

Event manager and Rotorua Daily Post advertising manager Janine Davy said the show was to not be missed and was the biggest in its history.

"For years the Rotorua Daily Post has been at the heart of the local community. We have chosen to put on this event to support local businesses and the local economy," she said.

"So come on down and get behind it."

She said the show was also a great opportunity to be in to win some amazing prizes.

One of the many prizes on offer is a luxurious vacation to Fiji, with Harvey World Travel Rotorua. The trip will include return airfares with Fiji Airways and five nights' accommodation for two at the Mana Resort and Spa.

Show-goers will also get the chance to win a Hyundai i20 GL 1.4 petrol automatic car, $10,000 in cash, a Slumberzone bed worth $2000 or $5000 towards their kitchen with Landmark Homes.

Parents looking for entertainment for the children won't be disappointed as The Hits, Mitre 10 Mega and Andy's Party Hire have banded together to create Kidzone, a free space where children can be entertained while their parents check out all the stalls.

Kidzone will offer balloons, a bouncy castle and face painting for kids to enjoy.

Several local restaurants are getting behind the event, sending 17 local chefs along to teach visitors to the show how to cook restaurant quality food on a budget.

Cobb & Co will also be hosting an Xbox face-off at the show, where Bay of Plenty Steamers fans can battle it out on the Xbox with some of their favourite players today.
