Destination Rotorua and Media R were shooting a video clip this week to a new cover of Pokarekare Ana, sung by former Supergroove frontman Karl Steven and Caoimhe Macfehin, as part of the Famously Rotorua campaign.

Many faces that make up the social fabric of Rotorua gathered on the Village Green this week for their 15 minutes of fame.

Destination Rotorua and Media R were shooting a video clip on Wednesday to a new cover of Pokarekare Ana, sung by former Supergroove frontman Karl Steven and Caoimhe Macfehin, as part of the Famously Rotorua campaign.

Frances Berkers, 25, had seen the music video promoted on the Rotorua NZ Facebook page. She moved to Rotorua this month from Auckland with her partner and was keen to get involved, she said.

Pauline Bennett moved to Rotorua from Auckland 18 months ago and wanted to become part of the video.

The clip will also feature Te Rina West, from the Famously Rotorua television promotion launched last September.

Te Rina, 15, was excited to be involved with the video, which includes the faces of Rotorua.

"It's been brilliant. It's all about people being themselves. I just smile I guess, " she said.

Tourists Benjamin Schulz and Luke Sonskyn, both from Germany, joined the action on the lakefront and were looking forward to seeing the final product.

"I will check on the internet in two or three weeks. It was a fun five minutes of my life and that's enough for me," Mr Schulz said.

Media R director Tony Richards said he was not sure how many people would turn up for the shoot but the film crew had already taken many great shots.

"We have had lots of good press about it," he said. "It's one of those things, you either get five or 500 turning up. I am feeling positive about the shots we have already."
