Rotorua Boys' High School student Kaleb Trask has been part of a winning New Zealand Barbarians Schools team, which completed a 28-17 victory over the Australian Schools side today.

The Barbarians side now prepares to take on the Fiji schools team on Saturday.

The New Zealand Schools side today beat their Fijian counterparts 45-19 and will meet the Australians on Saturday.

All matches are being played in Auckland.

Trask, 17, is in his final year of study, playing for Rotorua Boys' High.

The talented player, who has secured a contract with the Bay of Plenty Steamers' academy for the Steamers next season, has full backing from his family - especially from father Richard who used to play the sport.

"Rugby is in my blood and my dad got me into the game very early," Trask said.

"I loved it straight away and just wanted to keep playing.

"All of my family have been incredibly supportive and I hope I'll make them proud."

Trask's school is no stranger to producing rugby stars, with the likes of All Blacks Mike Delany and Tom Donnelly and England internationals Teimana Harrison and Dylan Hartley all playing for the school.
