Unique races event comes to town

Locals will be able check out a unique horse racing event in Rotorua this weekend.

Racing Rotorua chief executive Damien Radesic said Cambridge Raceway organised the harness racing meeting - for the uninitiated, that is where there are drivers in buggies behind the horses.

Mr Radesic said it was free entry and there would be children's entertainment, with face painting and possibly a bouncy castle.

"It's something totally unique that comes to Rotorua once a year and is totally different from thoroughbred racing.

"We are very lucky to have it come to Rotorua."

The event would go ahead regardless of the weather, unless the weather was severe.

When: Sunday 12.30pm to about 5pm
