Two people seriously injured following three-car crash near Tīrau, Waikato

Two people have been seriously injured following a three-car crash on State Highway 1 near Karapiro.

Police said emergency services were called to Tīrau Rd near the service station about 5.40pm.

Two people have serious injuries and are being provided medical assistance by ambulance services.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.

Police said the road is blocked in both directions and advised motorists to plan extra time into their journey.

“Diversions are in place while emergency services work at the scene.

“Southbound traffic is being diverted at Victoria Rd, Cambridge. Northbound traffic is being diverted at Maungatautari Rd, Horahora.”
