More than 75 brave skiers and snowboards took to the slopes to fund-raise for the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation

They were chilled out. There's no other way to describe it.

Around 75 skiers and snowboarders participated in the annual Turoa Bikini Downhill race yesterday, raising more than $650 for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

As the name suggests, bikinis were the main attire, with men sporting shorts as they took a run down the downhill slalom course.

Mt Ruapehu marketing manager Matt McIvor is already looking forward to next year.

"We couldn't have asked for better weather and look forward to turning the slopes pink again next year with this event," McIvor said.

BCFNZ chief executive Evangelia Henderson was pleased with the creative ways the community supported them.

"The bikini downhill ski event is a wonderful way to raise both money and awareness."

Donations were collected at the start of the course and throughout the day. Spot prizes were awarded to the best-dressed, fastest times and most runs down the course.
