Whakatane Community Patrol will receive a welcomed upgrade to their operations this Friday, with the donation of an updated vehicle from Trustpower.
Trustpower Community and Communications advisor Alice Boyd said the Whakatane Community Patrol were the eyes and ears of the police in their community.
"The group's many volunteers activelytake to Whakatane's streets, and having a reliable vehicle is essential to their success. We're delighted to be able to provide the hard-working group with an updated vehicle from our fleet."
Boyd said the vehicle donations were just one of ways Trustpower worked to support the communities it operated in, and particularly volunteers.
"Volunteers are the backbone of every community, and the Whakatane Community Patrol volunteers are no exception. They devote their time every week to help their community, and the donation of a newer vehicle will help this group to continue their great work for the people of Whakatane," she said.
Trustpower donated vehicles from its fleet to community organisations once they have reached 100,000km or are three years old. There are currently 37 ex-Trustpower vehicles in use by community organisations around New Zealand, including community patrols, SPCAs, hospices and Life Education Trusts.
