A truck has rolled on the Desert Rd partially blocking State Highway 1.

A police media spokesperson said there were no injuries but the road was down to one lane and there would be delays for the next three to four hours.

The call came through to police at 9.16am.

A message on the Bay of Plenty/Taupo police Facebook page said the incident was near the Three Sisters.

A statement from the Police Media Centre said traffic is being diverted via the National Park (SH47) after a truck rolled on the Desert Road just after 9am.

The New Zealand Transport Agency said the truck and trailer were blocking the road, following the crash.

A detour is in place via State Highway 49 at Waiouru, SH44, SH47, SH46 and then back onto SH1 at Rangipo, it said.

"The detour, which may be in place for several hours, will add at least 40 minutes to a journey through the area, the agency said.
