Rotorua accommodation providers are being congratulated for their top-notch service.

Sport of Kings and All Seasons Holiday Park are among hospitality providers who have been awarded a certificate of excellence this year by TripAdvisor, a leading travel website, for maintaining an overall of four out of five in online reviews for the year.

It was the fifth time Sport of Kings had received the award, which meant they were also inducted into the TripAdvisor hall of fame.

Sport of Kings motel manager Tristen Williams said her entire staff were stoked with the award. "It was pretty exciting, it was really cool to actually receive it. The certificate of excellence has been going for five years and we have won it every year."

She said it was a great win for the area. "I think it's fantastic. If we can show the country that we have fantastic customer service it lifts the reputation of Rotorua up, and customer service is huge in our industry. The better Rotorua can do will prove to the world that we are amazing."

Mrs Williams said being friendly went a long way in receiving positive online reviews. "We provide fantastic hospitality ... just treating people well, and being friendly, treating people how you want to be treated."

All Seasons Holiday Park manager Tracie Thornborough also said consistent friendliness was important to their business. "We were quite happy because we are second on TripAdvisor for specialty lodging and we are the top holiday park.

"We just realise that everyone is on holiday, so whatever day we are having, it shouldn't effect them when they are on their holiday, and we want to help them have a good time in Rotorua."

She said the TripAdvisor awards were beneficial for business.

"Everything is done on the internet so we are getting people booking with us just because of TripAdvisor."
