The 100 Glorious Years of Song will feature John Cameron (left), Tessa-May Brown, Alex Milligan and Susan Boland.

A century of music will be celebrated in Rotorua as part of a nationwide concert tour.

The 100 Glorious Years of Song will be held at the Rotorua Baptist Church next Tuesday showcasing diverse musical styles throughout the 20th century. The event is part of a tour to 24 venues throughout the country and will be presented by the Operatunity Daytime Concert Series group.

Genres will range from music hall to the Beatles and from disco to Disney.

The organisers said many of the songs featured are still part of the mainstream repertoire and will be well known to the general public.

"It begs the question what makes a great song and why do these songs enjoy such longevity? Will songs written this year still be remembered in 100 years' time?" they said.
