Rotorua's police area commander will be back at work today after reportedly filing papers to fight a driving infringement notice.
Fairfax media reported yesterday that Rotorua Area Commander Inspector Bruce Horne had filed papers in court to fight his latest infringement notice, which could see him lose his driver's licence.
In a written statement to the Rotorua Daily Post, a police spokesman said Mr Horne was issued an infringement offence notice relating to a driving issue in June 2016 while driving a police vehicle
"As with any police staff member he is subject to the same processes as any member of the public who receives an infringement notice.
"Police are unable to comment further as the matter is still subject to an ongoing process."
Mr Horne retained his driver's licence, the spokesman said.
"He retains his position as Rotorua Area Commander and will be at work on Monday," the spokesman said.
He would not confirm or deny if it was true that Mr Horne had filed to fight the notice or what it was in relation to.
