Rotorua Top 10 Holiday Park.

Rotorua Top 10 Holiday Park got the runner-up spot for the Supreme Award at the franchise's recent annual awards.

Rotorua was also voted People's Choice and won the award for the largest Qualmark increase.

The awards celebrate the excellence and achievements of the 47 franchisees throughout New Zealand. The Supreme Award, which recognises the top overall holiday park in the Top 10 group, went to Northland's Kauri Coast.

"We're so proud," said Jasmine Adams who co-manages the Rotorua park with her husband, Jared.

"It's awesome - not just for us - but for the local community. This really is a family business and we spend a lot of time marketing to families, here and overseas."

Mr Adams has been living in the park since he was 7 years old. The couple live on site with their two sons, and own the park with Mr Adams' parents, Dave and Carol, who are now retired from the day-to-day running, but are still involved in the park developments. They bought the central city park in 1992, selling a half share in the business to the Adams in 2012.

Mrs Adams said the park's social media presence, with 18,800 followers on its Facebook page, had contributed to the park's success.

International guests made up about 70 per cent of its patronage, with most coming from the UK, Germany, Australia, France, US, Canada, Japan, China, Singapore, and the Netherlands.

The Rotorua park covers more than 2ha in the central city, with 60 powered sites, about 40 non-powered sites, and 17 rooms. Top 10 Holiday Park chief executive David Ovendale said the awards recognised and celebrated the hard work and excellence achieved by parks that consistently excelled.
