A week of activities is bringing Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology students together and making them feel welcome on campus.
The institute kicked off O-week with activities and stalls on its Rotorua campus from Monday.
Sponsorship, leveraging and engagement manager Jess Barnett said the events had been good so farand they had good feedback.
"It brings the classes together. For a lot of people it's the first time they've met all these people. By bringing them together it gives them a sense of belonging," Barnett said.
Bachelor of Nursing student Tegan Shewry said she enjoyed the activities on offer.
"It brings everyone together and people that you don't see that often you can see again like people from high school. I like being able to catch up with them."
Electrical engineering student Anton Marshall said the week took the stress out of study.
Other events during O-Week will be a movie night and a toga party.
During the week students spend time learning about the facilities available to help them as well as undertaking fun activities to help them engage with campus life.
It's also an opportunity to be put in touch with services such as the Citizens Advice Bureau and Family Planning and to register with Student Job Search.
