Three injured in Taneatua crash, state highway closed

State Highway 2 between Awakeri and Taneatua is still closed following a serious crash early this morning.

Three people have been injured, one seriously, in the crash, involving a car and truck, on Pekatahi Bridge at 3am.

A police media spokeswoman said a woman, understood to be the driver, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Two passengers suffered moderate injuries and were also taken by ambulance to hospital.

The road remains closed while the vehicles are cleared, with diversions in place at Taneatua Rd and Awakeri.

But the spokeswoman said the road is expected to reopen in about 30 minutes.
