IFTTT is a new app that could come in handy for you managing your social networks.

How many social media platforms are you on?

And do you struggle to keep on top of what is being said about you, or what you are posting because of them?

I've found an app that could come in handy.

IFTTT, pronounced like gift without the g, is a new app to android - available on iOS since last year - that lets you create powerful connections with one simple statement. If I check into Foursquare then I can create a status message in Facebook.

You can mix and match your "recipes" to suit your needs.

IFTTT stands for If This Then That. The "this" is the trigger and the "that" is the action. The app has 100 channels for people to choose from, making sure all social media platforms are covered, so whether you use LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram you are all set.

In fact, it gets even better.

If you have the Wemo app, which allows you to turn on your house lights without being near the switch, you can set up a recipe to turn the lights on when the sun has set by using the weather channel.

You can get a text sent to your phone if there's rain forecast, a phone call if you're internet-famous - someone mentions you on Reddit.

The possibilities are endless, in fact they are so endless you can spend a few hours setting up your recipes and then discover new platforms to subscribe to.

Some of the channels you can use in your recipes include YouTube, Etsy, Twitter and Fiverr.

So if a listing goes on Etsy containing a phrase of your choice you can get it emailed to you, or tweeted, or posted on your Facebook page.
