Defending champions Rotorua-Lynmore men's first team are aiming to stay ahead in this season's title chase.

The current table toppers take on Cambridge away tomorrow looking to maintain their unbeaten run so far in the 2016/17 Waikato Bay regional premier senior interclub tennis competition.

Rotorua-Lynmore captain and number 1 seed Shaun Tamai said he expected a "difficult game" but believed his side had enough experience to overcome a "up and coming" Cambridge.

"It will be tough - Cambridge have the home advantage and I'm sure they will bring a very strong game plan," he said. "But they are a very young side after losing a couple of top players and I think our experience will pay off.

"In certain crucial situations it will about the shot selection chosen and we aim to come out on top because we want to keep this winning streak going.

"There is a very positive vibe in the squad at the moment and we can certainly use this to our advantage.'

Rotorua-Lynmore will be without Sean Martin this weekend, giving usual travelling reserve Campbell Brake the chance to make his mark in the first team.

The 21-year-old has returned to the squad after a four-year period out.

"He is a young guy with exceptional talent," said Tamai.

"Campbell is a brilliant all-rounder with a lot of power and this weekend will certainly be a chance for him to show us what he's got.

"Cambridge won't really know what to expect from him which should play to his advantage. He just needs to get this game time under his belt and play with confidence."

Meanwhile the Rotorua-Lynmore men's second team face Hamilton away.

Rotorua women, like their male first team counterparts, look to keep their winning streak intact when they take to the court against Gate Pa away in their fourth clash of the season.

The side, captained by Leona Davis-Kaye, are five points ahead at the top of the table, with Mount Maunganui in second.
