Ten people have been injured after a collision involving two cars and a truck near Taupo.
Emergency services were called to State Highway 1, just south of Taupo, at 2pm.
Fire Service spokesman Steve Smith said 10 people were injured. Eight have status four or minor injuries and the other two have been taken to hospital in a more serious
condition.
The southbound lane of SH1 was blocked for some time after the crash.
