A Rotorua 16-year-old is in a serious condition in Rotorua Hospital after he was struck by a bus on Old Taupo Road this morning.

The bus, carrying a group of Israeli tourists, was travelling past Manuka Cres when the incident happened.

The pedestrian sustained serious head injuries, police said.

Police are appealing to any members of the public who may have witnessed the
incident to contact Rotorua Police on (07) 3480099.

The boy was the second local teen to be hit by a vehicle today after a 17-year-old female was seriously injured in an incident on SH33 at Okere Falls about 3.30am.
