A special function to showcase virtual reality and build business through technology is being held in Rotorua tonight.

Rotorua X with TechCafe is hosting a special networking function as part of TechWeek NZ.

The event is about building businesses across New Zealand with technology, setting up New Zealand's first high school eSports League, and showcasing virtual reality.

TechWeek is a nationwide event with more than 100 events around the country to amplify inspiring technology, innovation, and design thinking that's thriving across New Zealand.

TechCafe is an IT services company focused on leveraging the best technology solutions to transform businesses, grow New Zealand's technology sector, and create career pathways for students and graduates in the industry.

Rotorua X chairman Darren McGarvie said they had an impressive panel of speakers lined up to share how they supported and upskilled New Zealand businesses while helping students and graduates into the technology sector.

"It's so important that businesses utilise the vast array of technological solutions to improve productivity, streamline operations and overall make life easier.

"We encourage all businesses owners and professionals to come along to this TechWeek networking event to hear about some of the options available as well as the exciting things that are happening in the technology space," he said.

"Each member of the panel will have a few minutes to introduce themselves then will open it up for questions. This will be a dynamic and interactive session."

TechCafe national manager Matt Dawson said he was excited to bring two virtual reality systems for everyone to try.

"The Virtual Reality (VR) experience with our custom designed packages will blow your mind and absolutely must be tried.

"Forget about taping your phone to your head, the setups we will have on the night offer a full immersion experience. You will feel and believe you are in a completely different world. This is the most exciting latest technology experience I've had and can't think of what comes close to this," he said.

TechWeek with TechCafe is on tonight at 5.30pm at Third Place Café.
